Vehicles in German City Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were alerted by a individual who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials report initial examinations show the fluid was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior official stated the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
