The artist has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the MVT, which works to save the Britain's grassroots concert spaces.

The star was presented with the cheque on 16 October as his new release People Watching was named the best record of the past year.

The musician has decided to give the cash to the trust, in acknowledgment of the essential function small stages fulfilled in his early career.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it hadn't been for all the gigs I performed around the region, and further afield, when I was just getting going," remarked the artist. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, major artists like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its initiatives to help venues survive, by applying a small levy to their admission fees, which supports smaller concert halls.

Fender also joined in, generating in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to help thirty-eight small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation supported venues that were dealing with imminent closure due to issues stemming from floods, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations were granted monetary aid in improving amenities and gear that helped artists and concertgoers.

"The notion that revenue from shows in major spaces helps the smaller venues, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just sensible," the star has stated.
